36-year-old virgin shares the secrets of abstinence

Practicing abstinence is probably one of the most challenging things to do. Your mind, spirit, and body are constantly in conflict as you decide which one (or two) is the most accurate.

Aside from the benefits of practicing abstinence that are taught in the Christian faith, refraining from sex has been scientifically proven to be successful for women who are seeking marriage. Scientists believe women who “play hard to get” are able to assess a man who will stick by her side during pregnancy.

Forty-three-year-old Lakita Garth was a 36-year-old virgin in 2005 when she kissed her boyfriend-turned-husband for the first time. Garth has gone public about her 36 years of virginity and is now helping other women around the world learn how to refrain from sex prior to marriage.

Excerpts from her interview are below:

On Her Family’s Influence on Her Choice:

In my family, if you had sex outside of marriage, someone got married, or someone got shot! I come from a line of Christians that believe your faith must impact the culture. It has to go farther than your personal relationship with Christ.

On Choosing a Mate that Is Not Into the Church:

You can’t be the key to his spiritual maturity.

Her Advice to Singles:

To be single was to be undistracted in my devotion to God. Keep your options open. God’s perfect mate for you may not look or sound like your ‘fantasy mate’.

One commenter with the user name “Chris” did not agree with Garth’s advice. He responded to her interview saying: “The Bible does not make any of the claims that this article makes about sexual purity before marriage. The abstinence model of Christianity is an inherited tradition and not a hard and fast line which the Bible draws. “Don’t have sex before marriage!” they say. Why? The Bible says we should abstain from “sexual immorality.” What is sexual immorality? “Sex before marriage,” they say. Says who? It is a tradition, not an inviolable maxim — a tradition which made sense in earlier cultures where everyone married AND they did so at a young age.

Sex before marriage is certainly a risky venture, but articles like these unnecessarily shame devoted lovers who have not yet overcome the logistical hurdles of holding a wedding. In all honesty, the girl in this article sounds totally self-absorbed/self-righteous, some of the most disgusting traits for a Christian to have. We should NOT be holding her up as a model for Christian women.”

Ifreke Inyang: Top 5 goals from a weekend of stunners

As I tweeted yesterday, it was indeed the goal-of-the-season weekend. Sublime flicks, thunderous volleys and stunning free-kicks. But which five are up there as the best?

1. Alexis Sanchez

I always love a smashing strike and Sanchez’s effort against Liverpool, was that and more. With the Gunners already two goals up thanks to Hector Bellerin and Mesut Ozil, the Chilean picked up Aaron Ramsey’s pass, left Kolo Toure eating grass and thumped the ball past Simon Mignolet.

2.  Jermaine Defoe

What a goal to win the Tyneside derby. Defoe played 18 times against Arsenal in the North London derby and only scored once. On Sunday, there was no taking the headlines from the former England man, as he lashed home a volley with his weaker left foot on the stroke of half time.

3. Bobby Zamora

How did Zamora do that? Yes, we all know him to be the big target man, available for knock-downs and link-up play, but not for impudent goals. The Queens Park Rangers striker showed great awareness and composure, to flick the ball over Boaz Myhill and make it 2-0.

4. Wayne Rooney

I don’t care what Louis van Gaal’s philosophy is. Rooney’s best position is upfront, where he can spend more time in the opposition’s box, looking for chances to put away. With his side getting nervy on Saturday against Aston Villa, the England skipper plucked a ball from the sky, swivelled and shot past Brad Guzan. 2-0.

5. Charlie Adam

Of course, you knew this would be number one. The sheer audacity to try that against Chelsea and a goalkeeper of Thibaut Courtois’ quality. And all of that from 66 yards out. Adam might look like a pizza delivery man more than a footballer, but that technique was exquisite

You Will Die In 7 Days If You Don’t Vote Ambode, Oba Of Lagos Warns Igbo Lagosians

Oba of Lagos, HON Rilwan Akiolu has delivered an off the shelf warning to Lagosians residing in Lagos state to vote for his man Akinwunmi Ambode at the gubernatorial election coming up next week Saturday Aprill 11.

He delivered the warning to a group of Igbo leaders he met at his palace on Saturday.

What he allegedly said below

"On Saturday, if any one of you goes against Ambode who I picked, that is your end. If it doesn’t happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and its not my father who gave birth to me. By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future. On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos state, the person is going to die inside this water.

For the Igbos and others in Lagos, they should go where the Oba of Lagos heads to. When they were coming to the state, they didn’t come with all their houses. But now they have properties in the state. So they must do my bidding. And that is the bidding of the ancestors of Lagos and God. I am not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he can never be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere you can not do it here.

If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you, if you go against my wish, you will perish in the water. I am for the progress, growth and development in Lagos, Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I the Oba of Lagos have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years. He is going on a mission and God will give him the wisdom and knowledge to fulfill that mission. Almost a year ago, I declared that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos and it will not change. From time immemorial, the previous occupiers of this house will say what they wanted after consultation with other people. And this hasn’t change and it will not change at this time.” he allegedly said

Bakare Warns Buhari Againt Appointing Persons With Questionable Character Into His Government

The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on Sunday in Lagos cautioned the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, against appointing persons with questionable character into his government.

Some of these people, the cleric said, were among those who facilitated Buhari’s success on March 28.

Bakare, who was the running mate to Buhari in the 2011 Presidential election on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, said this at the 26th anniversary of his church. He delivered a message titled, ‘Democracy audit: chances, choices and consequences.’

The 60 year-old pastor urged Buhari to start the fight against corruption from his circle and lay a good example, saying change cannot be achieved if these were not done.

He said, “I congratulate Nigerians; we have chosen a man of integrity as our President. But integrity is not enough to run a government.

“May the good Lord surround the President-elect with men and women of goodwill, great intellectual capacity, competence and character to help restore our wasted years.

“I pray sincerely that not all those who facilitated his winning the election will be among those who run the government. I did say before the election that I trust the person of General Buhari but not all those around him.

“I mean every word of it because many of them are nothing but Ali Baba and 40 thieves. And if these are the same who would go into government, you can’t fight evil with evil. You can as well kiss the anti-corruption stance of Mr. President-elect goodbye.”

Bakare prayed for Buhari to have the needed wisdom and strength, noting that people were already submitting applications to him to serve in the incoming administration.

“You don’t know how many applications are in my phone. I am not the Vice-President; I am not looking for a job. They said ‘we know General Buhari listens to you; if I cannot get Minister of Works, maybe I will get Minister of Aviation’.

“The vultures are now going round and round. If he does not have quality people around him, then they will put round pegs in square holes and within two years, we are back to square one.”

The cleric saluted INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega for his leadership and “comportment in the face of grave accusation and provocation.”

He also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat, noting that he had written his name in gold.

Meanwhile, a former Chaplain of Aso Villa during the administration of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Reverend William Okoye, has called on Buhari to reduce the cost of governance by reducing the number of political offices in the country.

Gov. Fashola Reveals He Didn’t Sack Ambode

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has said he did not sack the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, while the latter was the Accountant-General of the state.

The Peoples Democratic Party had said Ambode was sacked by Fashola for financial impropriety but Fashola denied the allegation, saying it was part of the desperate attempts by the PDP to win Saturday’s governorship election.

Fashola said this in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, on Saturday.

The statement read, “Governor Fashola has repudiated the insinuation that the APC governorship candidate was dismissed from the state’s civil service, describing it as one of the many lies of the PDP aimed at deceiving voters into voting for them.

“He explained that Mr. Ambode retired voluntarily from the public service after 27 years of meritorious service to the state, adding that he (governor) wrote him a letter of commendation.”

Fashola urged the people of Lagos not to vote for the PDP on Saturday as the PDP-led Federal Government had done nothing to merit their votes.

He said the Federal Government still owed Lagos about N51bn.

The statement added, “The governor noted that the PDP had done nothing in the last 16 years but lie to Nigerians about practically everything, including the state of the economy and the security situation as well as other sensitive issues that affect the lives of the people.

“Urging the people not to be deceived by such lies, Governor Fashola pointed out that in the last 16 years, the PDP-controlled Federal Government had ignored the state in federal appointments and not only failed to maintain its numerous infrastructure in the state but refused to pay back to the state the money it (Lagos) has spent in maintaining federal assets in the state including roads and bridges, amounting to N51bn.”

The governor said the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, was misleading civil servants on the issue of leave allowance and minimum wage.

The statement recalled that the issue of minimum wage was settled on February 7, 2011, when the state government signed an agreement with the 14 approved labour unions in the state civil service to pay N18, 780 to the lowest paid of its workers.

The agreement, brokered by the then Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Mr. Jide Sanwoolu, according to the statement , increased the minimum wage of the lowest paid worker in the employment of the government by 69.6 percent which is a 7.6 percent increase over the Federal Government approved National Minimum Wage.

Fashola said his administration was not only the first to implement the minimum wage structure but also added to the N18,000 minimum wage across board, a gesture for which the public servants commended the administration.
